Ingredients & Preparation
HelloFresh has two distribution centres – one in Sydney and one in Perth. They work with trusted, local suppliers, all of which are subject to regular quality controls. HelloFresh aims to use as few imported ingredients as possible to protect the environment and support Australian farmers.
While there are some allergy-friendly meals, for the most part, HelloFresh are unable to cater for special allergies or intolerances. However, since HelloFresh boxes only contain unprocessed ingredients, it is possible to omit, or replace, any ingredient that could cause an allergic reaction. Every week, you can find the list of allergens for each recipe by clicking on the recipe in your menu.
Delivery & Packaging
HelloFresh delivers to every major city in Australia, with a significant number of regional Eastern locations represented as well. However, some additional delivery fees will apply the further off the beaten track you may live. You can check if HelloFresh delivers to your area by clicking here and entering your postcode when you select a box to see delivery options.
Deliveries are made between Saturday and Wednesday each week, with your final meal selections needing to be locked in by either Tuesday or Wednesday the week before.
HelloFresh’s boxes and our meal kit bags, including the stickers, are all 100% recyclable. What should you do with them? Flatten the box, empty your meal kit bags and pop them all into your kerbside recycling bin.
Customer Service
HelloFresh customer service is decent – they have a virtual chatbot assistant on the website to help with basic inquiries. If you need extra support, you can also chat with a Live Agent, but this option isn’t obvious until you’ve exhausted all other options from the virtual assistant. You can also call their Sydney office on (02) 8188 8722.
Pricing
In terms of pricing, HelloFresh falls in the mid-range category, as evidenced in a cost comparison of meal kits. The cost of each box is based on the number of people and meals you order. As an example, the classic “meat & veggies” box costs (per week):
- 2 people (3 meals): $70
- 2 people (4 meals): $90
- 2 people (5 meals): $105
- 4 people (3 meals): $125
- 4 people (4 meals): $150
- 4 people (5 meals): $165
You also need to pay a flat delivery fee of $9.99 delivery plus the cost of any additional special meals, sides, ready meals or snacks you purchase.
Customer Reviews
Overall, customers thoroughly enjoy HelloFresh, with some of the most common positive feedback being the recipes are quick and easy to make, the food is fresh and tasty and the delivery drivers are very friendly. Some of the things that could be improved are that there are often missing ingredients, customer service could be improved and discount codes don’t always work properly.
